My Adoption Plan:
Grade: 7th Grade
Research |
When I begin research of a serious game I want to incorporate in a unit, I will first look for its alignment to the standards and objectives addressed within the unit. Next, I will research to ensure the game is appropriate for all of my students.
Choose |
During this step of the model, I will choose when to implement the game and for how long. I want to be sure the game I have chosen will keep my students engaged while challenging them. I will also decide if additional resources should be included to guarantee the game relates to the standards and objectives and what those resources would be if necessary.
Investigate |
When I begin the investigation process of this model, I will be ensuring the game is compatible with the software on student Chromebooks. Additionally, I will assure the game is able to be accessed on the school internet. If the game is blocked, I will contact the Digital Integration Specialist assigned to our school by the district and request student access to the particular game/website.
Pilot |
The chosen game will depend on how I pilot the game in my classroom. Nevertheless, I will create a grading rubric and explain the rubric to students in order for them to be aware on how they will be graded during or after gameplay. Based on past experience, I have incorporated gameplay into my lesson plans on 2-3 specific days, however, students are free and encouraged to play the game at home. Additionally, after those 2-3 days have past students have the option to play the game once their required daily assignments were completed while they wait for their classmates to finish or for the next instruction.
Reflect |
Following the inclusion of the game, I will reflect on the results of student progress and determine the games effectiveness. I will decide what changes, if any, need to be made for future implementation, such as the additional resources that were or were not added.
